Role Summary
1. Translates business and production requirements into functional MES specifications for a greenfield food-grade enzyme manufacturing facility. Acts as the primary bridge between Accenture workshop outputs, plant operations, and the AVEVA MES system integrator. Ensures full traceability of requirements from URS through to validated configuration.
2. Key Responsibilities
3. Translate Accenture workshop outputs into structured functional specifications aligned with ISA-95/ISA-88 standards
4. Develop and maintain User Requirements Specification (URS) for AVEVA MES covering all MESA-11 domains: production execution, EBR, genealogy, quality gates, equipment readiness, deviation workflow, label orchestration, shift handover
5. Map end-to-end production processes for solid line (weighing, mixing, sieving, packing) and liquid line (weighing, mixing, pasteurization, standardization, filling) to MES unit operations and phases
6. Define MES functional behavior for Dual-Mode Architecture: Connected Mode (full SAP/LIMS/cloud integration) and Island Mode.
7. Manage requirements traceability matrix linking URS items to functional specs, test cases, and validation protocols
8. Coordinate with AVEVA MES SI on design validation, ensuring alignment between functional specs and platform capabilities
9. Support ISA-88 procedural model definition: recipe hierarchy (General/Site/Master Recipe), phase parameters, and equipment module mapping
10. Define functional requirements for 28 inter-system interfaces covering SAP PP/DS, EWM, QM, PM, LIMS, WES/FMS/AGV, Loftware, PI Historian, Boomi iPaaS
11. Participate in cross-disciplinary design reviews with DCS (ABB 800xA), automation, and process engineering teams
12. Support gap analysis and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) for open design questions
Technical Competencies (Hard Skills)
1. MES platform experience: AVEVA MES (System Platform / InTouch / Historian ecosystem) or equivalent Tier-1 MES (Siemens OpCenter, Rockwell PharmaSuite, Werum PAS-X)
2. ISA-95 / ISA-88 standards: equipment hierarchy modeling (Enterprise → Site → Area → Process Cell → Unit), procedural model, batch state machine (S88.01)
3. Requirements engineering: URS development, functional specification authoring, requirements traceability (DOORS, Jama, or equivalent)
4. Business process mapping: BPMN, value stream mapping, or equivalent process modeling for manufacturing
5. ERP-MES integration concepts: SAP PP/DS production order lifecycle, material master data (MDG), batch management, EWM warehouse operations
6. Food/pharma manufacturing domain: understanding of batch production, CIP/SIP, weighing & dispensing, QC hold/release workflows
7. Data modeling: equipment hierarchy, material model, batch genealogy/traceability structures
8. Workshop facilitation: ability to elicit, structure, and validate requirements from plant operations, quality, logistics, and engineering stakeholders
Behavioral Competencies (Soft Skills)
1. Analytical thinking: ability to decompose complex end-to-end manufacturing processes into discrete, implementable MES functions
2. Stakeholder management: effective communication with plant operators, quality managers, automation engineers, SAP consultants, and MES SI teams
3. Documentation discipline: producing clear, auditable functional specifications suitable for GAMP 5 validation lifecycle
4. Cross-cultural communication: working effectively in an international project team (Danish site, global program, multiple vendor teams)
5. Attention to detail: precision in requirements capture is critical for regulatory compliance (EC 178/2002, BRCGS, HACCP)
6. Proactive problem identification: flagging ambiguities, gaps, and boundary conflicts before they become design defects
Experience Requirements
1. 5+ years in MES functional consulting, business analysis, or solution design for batch manufacturing
2. At least 2 completed
