It focuses on the family car market, offering intelligent electric vehicles with a design, development, manufacturing, and sales scope. The brand aims to provide a convenient and cost-effective car ownership experience, leveraging NIO's established energy services. The first model, the ONVO L60, was unveiled in May 2024, with a starting price of 206,900 yuan. ONVO is designed to support family growth and enhance daily life, offering various services to its users.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary and technically accomplished leader to manage our Global Visualization function within the Design organization. As Global Head of Visualization, you will play a critical role in shaping how our vehicles are conceived, developed, and experienced—empowering our designers with cutting-edge digital tools, real-time technologies, and immersive environments that accelerate creativity and decision-making.

Reporting into Design leadership, you will define and execute a cohesive global visualization strategy that seamlessly integrates into the design process—from early concept exploration through digital and physical model validation. You will lead multidisciplinary teams across regions, establish unified standards and workflows, and ensure that visualization capabilities enhance design quality, speed, and innovation at scale.

This role requires deep expertise in automotive design visualization, including real-time rendering, CGI, AI, virtual reality, and digital model integration, combined with strong operational leadership. You will act as a strategic partner to Interior, Exterior, CMF, and Advanced Design teams, translating creative intent into high-fidelity digital experiences that support reviews, executive approvals, and cross-functional collaboration.

We are looking for a leader who understands both the art and the engineering of automotive design visualization—someone who can inspire creative teams, modernize pipelines, and position visualization as a core enabler of design excellence globally.

Core Responsibilities

• Set and champion a compelling creative vision for visualization that elevates design storytelling and shapes how ideas are experienced across the organization.
• Lead, inspire, and grow a multidisciplinary visualization team, fostering a culture of craft, curiosity, and creative confidence.
• Attract and develop exceptional talent, creating an environment where experimentation, mentorship, and creative excellence thrive.
• Position visualization as a strategic creative partner to Exterior and Interior Design, CMF, UX/UI, Engineering, and leadership—driving alignment, clarity, and inspiration throughout the design process.
• Guide project direction, priorities, and resourcing across multiple design programs, balancing creative ambition with delivery at key moments.
• Curate and uphold a high bar for visual quality, narrative, and brand expression through thoughtful review of images, animations, and real-time experiences.
• Shape the creative output for design reviews, executive presentations, and milestone events, ensuring work is emotionally resonant, intentional, and impactful.
• Define and evolve visual language, standards, and reference frameworks that enable consistency while leaving room for innovation and creative expression.
• Direct the team’s use of visualization platforms and technologies, encouraging mastery while continuously reimagining how tools can serve storytelling.
• Explore and champion emerging approaches—including real-time, immersive, and AI-assisted workflows—to push the boundaries of what visualization can be.
• Ensure consistency, clarity, and excellence across global markets and cultures

Profile & Background

• Senior-level experience as a Head of Visualization or equivalent leadership role
• Background in premium or aspirational brands, such as:
• Mobility or Automotive
• Lifestyle & luxury
• Consumer electronics
• Deep understanding of how design, product, and brand strategy work together
• Strong track record in visual storytelling, ideally at a premium OEM
• International mindset with experience working across cultures and regions
• Gender is irrelevant – diversity of thought and perspective is essential

Language & Location

• Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
• Based in Munich, working from our design studios
