Job Description Our data platform is the nerve centre of the entire organisation; it’s how we understand and steer our business, and it mediates how departments communicate with each other. With massive event volumes, over 1,000 travel providers, plus a host of other third parties, there is a real richness and variety of data to work with; consolidating, aggregating and standardising ready for fast delivery to our teams, our customers, and our partners. The role of Head of Data Architecture and Engineering is a key strategic position within the data tribe. You will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining our pipelines and warehouses/lake houses; tracking data quality and health; ensuring appropriate availability and latency for our data products; and the backbone infrastructure of our semantic and data governance layers. You will also be leading a small team of engineers and architects and working closely with the VP of Data and Analytics to deliver on the roadmap for our data strategy. Beyond that, your excellent technical skills will be applied all across the data stack as you contribute to best practices in everything we do. You would expect to be spending more than 50% of your time in hands-on technical work. Lead the Architecture and Engineering function, managing the team, dealing with workload management, performance, and personal development. Design and build highly-scalable data models, establishing a coherent, single-source of truth for Omio data. Establish governance processes around access control and reference- and master- data management. Manage our data pipelines and data quality infrastructure, ensuring high accuracy and low latency. Work closely with upstream and downstream providers and consumers of data, building strong relationships and ensuring strong links across the business. Work with Analytics Engineers to define and establish non-functional requirements for production data products. Manage our GCP estate, tracking usage and costs. Be a strong thought leader, bringing a balanced view on new trends and technologies that may be of use to Omio. Own the data tool stack, ensuring high productivity and a great developer experience for all our data practitioners.
