We are looking for a research assistant (postdoctoral researcher) at Faculty III - Economics, Business Informatics, Business Law - Interaction Design for Sustainability and Transformation to start as soon as possible on January 1, 2026, under the following conditions:
1. 100% = 39.83 hours
2. Pay grade 13 TV-L
3. Fixed-term for a period of 3 years
Your tasks:
4. The Chair of Interaction Design and Transformation is launching the project “DatenWErKIOS: Data-driven value creation with the help of artificial intelligence – open source smart energy ecosystem for the energy transition.” The project, funded by the BMFTR, focuses on data ecosystems of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in collaboration with partners from industry and science. The aim of the overall project is to develop a smart energy ecosystem that scientifically investigates the collection, processing, and use of data from smart energy meters. The University of Siegen is working on two central topics within this project. On the one hand, it is concerned with the design of the platform and the question of how companies can be motivated to actively participate in and use the data platform. On the other hand, it is researching how large, abstract amounts of data can be made accessible through AI-supported technologies, such as large language models (LLMs). The focus here is particularly on promoting data literacy and interaction with so-called counterpart technologies.

Your profile:
10. Above-average doctoral degree in the field Interaction design, industrial design, service design, human-computer interaction, sociology, psychology, computer science, or a similar field
11. Independent research interest and professional competence in the field of scientific methodology (qualitative and quantitative)
12. Relevant publications or conference presentations
13. Experience in organizing workshops and conferences
14. Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation
15. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, very good communication skills
16. Excellent command of written and spoken English
17. Knowledge of German (C1 Level) is desirable
