Start: 21.07.2025 Duration: 31.10.2025 (long term engagement (2026)) Capacity: 100% if possible Location: 75% Remote, 25% Berlin (1 week Berlin / 3 weeks remote in rotation), up to 50% onsite in peak times Language: English, German is a plus Team: Product Portfolio Architecture – Storage advances the architectural vision and technical design of storage services within the Infrastructure Product Line. The scope spans Object Storage, File and Block Storage, a custom-built Container Storage Interface (CSI), and a Storage Manager service. Through continuous dialogue with engineering functions, product management, and architecture leadership, the discipline safeguards scalability, security, and alignment with the overarching platform strategy. Delivering on this mission calls for forward-looking thinking, deep expertise in infrastructure and distributed systems, and the ability to translate business objectives into technical execution. Key objectives include — • defining the architecture for an Object Storage product based on NetApp technology, • integrating every storage solution with Enterprise Digital Platform (EDP) services such as IAM, • designing a CSI driver for file and block storage, and • replacing NetApp with CEPH across all storage types. These goals shape the technical direction and architectural standards of the storage stack, providing secure, reliable, and futureproof storage services through both immediate design deliverables and long-term strategic initiatives. Tasks: - Define and Own Storage Architecture Design - Drive Strategic Architecture Initiatives - Objective: Provide Technical Oversight and Assurance - Promote Quality and Architectural Maturity Skills (must-have): - 7–10 years of professional experience in IT infrastructure, software architecture, or platform engineering. - Experience in Modular/Distributed Software as well as Highly Available Systems Architecture. - Experience in File, Block, and Object Storage Technologies (preferably NetApp and CEPH). - Knowledge in Linux Storage Mechanisms (mount, k8s CSI framework) - Understanding of REST APIs, data modeling (relational, document, graph). - Solid understanding of K8s concepts (namespaces, services, deployments, ingress) and surrounding technologies (e.g. service mesh). - Know-how in Authentication and authorization (IAM, OAuth, OIDC). - Understanding of Observability concepts (logs, metrics, traces etc.). - Python and modern Frameworks (FastAPI, Pydantic). Skills (should-have): - Certifications in architecture, cloud infrastructure, or security (e.g. TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP certifications) are an advantage. - Understanding of networking concepts (VLAN / VRF/ BGP). - Understanding of Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
