The BSZ provides IT-supported services for academic libraries, museums, and archives, particularly in Baden-Württemberg, Saxony, and Saarland.
We are looking for a dedicated IT specialist with in-depth knowledge of search and indexing technologies to set up and expand a mirror of the K10plus-Zentral discovery index at the BSZ. Working closely with our cooperation partner GBV, you will be responsible for setting up, further developing, and operating the K10plus-Zentral index for the SWB region. Your tasks will include, in particular, the design, implementation, and maintenance of a Solr-based index, as well as technical support and continuous optimization of the underlying processes. The focus of the position is on establishing a powerful central index infrastructure that serves as the basis for library discovery systems.
We are looking for a person with strong technical understanding, a structured approach to work, and who enjoys working in cooperative, cross-institutional development and operational contexts, and who will actively contribute their expertise to the sustainable expansion of the service.
You will work in a dedicated team and in close coordination with the department management.

Your tasks

* Automation of import, update, and re-indexing processes
* Optimization of performance, scalability, and search quality of the index
* Coordination with internal departments at the BSZ
* Documentation of the technical architecture, processes, and workflows
Requirements profile
Your profile
* Completed university degree in computer science or a comparable academic degree
* Knowledge of (secure) administration of Linux infrastructures.
* Knowledge of setting up, configuring, and operating Apache Solr is desirable.
* Structured, independent, and solution-oriented approach to work.
* Ability to work in a team and strong communication skills for collaboration with internal and external partners
* Willingness to learn about library systems and standards (K10plus, SWB, standard data)
