Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team and contribute to our research project on tumor ecosystems. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating the complex interactions between cancer cells, stromal cells, and immune cells in colorectal cancer.
The primary focus of this project is to dissect the tumor ecosystem using advanced bioinformatics approaches, spatial transcriptomics, and single-cell RNA sequencing data from active clinical trials. The postdoctoral fellow will work jointly between the University of Luxembourg and the KU Leuven, benefiting from a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
The person will apply innovative bioinformatics approaches to human-relevant models and unique patient-derived tissue cohorts from colorectal cancer. A comprehensive profile of phenotypic and functional heterogeneity, lineage plasticity, and evolutionary dynamics of epithelial cells, cancer-associated fibroblasts, and immune cells will be generated.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* PhD in Biological Sciences, Data Science, Computational Biology, or a related discipline
* Strong computational background with proficiency in R and at least one additional scripting language
* Solid knowledge of biostatistics
* Experience with single-cell sequencing data and preferentially with spatial omics
* Good understanding of cancer biology, immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology required
Benefits
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth.
Others
The University of Luxembourg promotes an inclusive culture and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds. We offer a dynamic and supportive work environment, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
