Our client, an international software engineering consultancy, is looking to hire a German-speaking Software Architect with strong English skills to support their enterprise customers in Germany.
About the Role
This role sits at the forefront of customer engagement and engineer. You will play a critical part in shaping the architectural direction and strategy, to aid in presales activities, working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to design scalable, maintainable, and business-aligned software solutions.
You will be responsible for defining the technical approach during the pre-sales phase (THIS IS NOT A SALES ROLE), presenting structured technical designs, quickly adapting to new business domains, and ensuring that client requirements are accurately translated into robust solution architectures.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate confidently in a customer-facing setting.
Key Responsibilities

* Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify goals, and translate concepts into actionable architectures.
* Present and defend architectural decisions to both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.
* Create solution overviews, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation using internal templates and industry best practices.
* Quickly gain context and adapt to various industry domains during presales cycles.
* Support the sales team by estimating effort, identifying risks, and outlining technical approaches.
* Contribute to internal architectural practices (e.g., SEI, ADRs, ISO 25010, QA frameworks).
* Participate in occasional whiteboarding and live design sessions.
Required Skills & Experience
* Fluent German speaker with fluent English.
* 2+ years’ experience as a Software Architect or Senior Software Engineer with architectural responsibilities.
* 7+ years engineering experience in any main tech stack.
* Proven ability to design distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, integrations, APIs, and scalable enterprise solutions.
* Strong understanding of architectural patterns, technical roadmapping, and system quality attributes.
* Ability to communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience working across multiple business domains and adapting quickly to new contexts.
* Demonstrated pre-sales or customer-facing solution consulting experience is highly desirable.
Nice to Have
* Experience with SEI architecture practices, ADRs, ISO 25010, or similar frameworks.
* Familiarity with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
* Whiteboarding or live system-design experience in interviews or client workshops.
