EHS Manager– Germany
Role: Operational EHS monitoring & compliance on site
Reports to: EHS & Quality Manager
Primary on-site interface: Construction management and SiGeKo
Purpose of the Position
A General contractor are looking for an experienced professional to oversee daily safety standards on our construction site in West Germany. You will act as a strict guardian of safety regulations and ensure that the project-specific EHS plan, statutory requirements (e.g., Construction Site Ordinance – BaustellV), and the client’s high-risk requirements are strictly adhered to.
Key Responsibilities
* Safety Induction (LDC Site Induction):
* Conduct formal LDC safety inductions for all new subcontractor employees and visitors before their first work assignment or entry to the construction site.
* Clarity of Communication:
* Ensure that safety briefings are communicated in a way that can be understood by all workers, regardless of nationality or language.
* Documentation:
* Maintain and archive attendance records for all safety inductions without gaps.
* Daily Compliance Monitoring:
* Perform continuous site inspections (safety walks) to verify compliance with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
* Work Permits:
* Review and issue daily approvals for high-risk activities (HRA), such as excavation works, hot works, work at height, energy isolation, and confined space work.
* Interface with SiGeKo:
* Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the Health & Safety Coordinator.
* PPE Management:
* Enforce the mandatory “5-point PPE” (hard hat, high-visibility vest, gloves, S3 safety shoes, and safety glasses).
* Logistics & Traffic:
* Monitor the on-site traffic management plan, especially the strict separation of pedestrians and vehicles using barriers.
* Reporting:
* Immediately report incidents or policy violations to the LDC EHS & Quality Manager and prepare preliminary written reports within 12 hours.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Certified Safety Specialist (SiFa):
* Completed training in accordance with the German Occupational Safety Act (ASiG) and relevant DGUV regulations.
* Construction Experience:
* Proven experience in operational safety management on large-scale construction sites (ideally data centers or industrial facilities).
* Regulatory Knowledge:
* Strong knowledge of German occupational health and safety regulations (ArbSchG, BaustellV, BetrSichV, GefStoffV).
* Language Skills:
* German: Fluent (primary language on site)
* Additional Languages: English, Polish, Russian, Turkish, or Bulgarian are a strong advantage to support communication and enforcement with subcontractors
