Compliance Officer Job
About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Compliance Officer to join our team in ensuring that all customs and trade compliance processes are accurate, efficient, and compliant with European Union regulations.
Main Responsibilities:
* Ensure consistency and accuracy of customs processes across EMEA entities.
* Identify and manage Customs/Trade Compliance issues and risks efficiently.
* Work closely with the Customs/Trade Compliance Team on EU special projects and internal audits.
* Provide training and support to cross-functional teams on compliance requirements.
* Assist business functions in problem-solving import/export procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
* Broker Management/Central Customs Tower: Point of contact, coordination, monitoring, and handling irregularities.
* Support implementation, monitoring, and customs clearance processes for all EMEA entities.
* Handle simplified customs permits, updates, reports, process descriptions, corrective actions, etc.
* Determine and handle Customs Tariff codes.
* Request/creation of Long-Term Suppliers Declarations for EU.
* Customs Software Management handling – ATLAS.
* Initiate internal audits and review/evaluate internal records of regional/local import/export.
* Closely collaborate with stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Tax, Procurement, Supply Planning, Logistics, Sales, Marketing, etc.) to resolve/international trade activities.
* Provide guidance/advice on classification, valuation, country of origin, free trade agreements, INCOTERMS, record-keeping, broker management, and export-controls.
Requirements:
* Solid years of experience in Customs/Trade compliance.
* Bachelor's Degree and/or certificate of Customs/Trade Compliance related 'Fachwirt' seminar.
* Demonstrate extended knowledge of EU import/export procedures and customs law/compliance requirements.
* Excellent German and English language skills; other European languages (Spanish, French, Czech) a plus.
* High-level communication skills, problem-solving skills, organizational/planning skills.
* Computer skills (ATLAS, MS Office, SAP, MS TEAMS).
* Project management skills a plus.
* Team player with a positive 'can-do' attitude.
* Ability to work ethically/integrity when supporting decisions on daily customs topics.
