Introducing an exciting opportunity as a project pursuit leader to grow Emerson’s business by pursuing green- & brownfield projects in across business units in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, coordinating with business unit and global project pursuit teams focused on the identified European growth vectors. The focus areas will be aligned to the European growth vectors which in FY25 include Sustainability and Decarbonization, Life Sciences, Semiconductors, and Metals and Mining. Within Sustainability and Decarbonization there is an increased focus on Hydrogen, Ammonia, and Hydrogen Derivatives (Ammonia, Methanol, Others). This role aims to deliver incrementalprofitable greenfield and brownfield projectbusiness and showcase innovative pursuit strategies for project wins in the growth vector industries by firmly gripping the project ecosystem of End-users, EPC’s and OEM’s doing business in or out of DACH. In this role you will develop and implement pursuits strategies to lead high visibility strategic projects, using Emerson’s Project Certainty 2.0 philosophy and learning from GP3 practices to ensure proper project qualification, thereby acting as a link between our customers and our business unit / world area organizations. You will work closely with the DACH Sales Directors, BU Champions and Account Managers and multifaceted global pursuit and PMO teams to improve the win potential for all BUs.
You will regularly report your project progress, including project and funnel status, as well as initiates and drive next best action plans. You need to manage both the communication up to the management and global sales team, as well as the communication across and over to a broad set of partners like the outside/digital/inside sales engineers, business developers, solution architects working alongside you on the pieces of the project puzzle as you align all of them for the best possible project outcome. You will also foster relationships with important external third-party collaborators, like industry associations, industry development organizations, industry leaders with vision, and key event organizers to catalyze the reach and recognition of Emerson in the region/industry.
In this role you will :
1. Lead BU and cross BU pursuits across the DACH Region alongside BU and WA pursuit team members including the development of sales strategy; forging relationships with defined end users, partners, and engineering contractors; having direct involvement during sales pursuit, proposal generation/submittal, and contract discussions plus supporting project execution, delivery, start-up/ commissioning and final project hand off.
2. Grow and manage the green/brownfield project funnel and share it with partners regularly
3. Ensure BU pursuit leadership is in onboard and assembles effective pursuit teams and cadence
4. Leverage project certainty 2.0 and relationship management principles to position strategic selling points and create differentiated angles of approach in competitive and scaling markets
5. Solicit Opportunities, initiate specification reviews, and support BU pursuit process ., with strategic rationale, comparable cases, or business impact for DOA calls
6. Champion new ideas and new approaches including positioning ISW and AspenTech solutions
7. Learn/Teach project pursuit process improvements to increase overall hit rate
8. Educate and innovate sphere of influence on useful business processes, tools, and standard methodologies
9. Scout for new and next trends and develop relationships with feasibility phase of projects
10. Shape and Participate in the European growth vector community and expertise in Europe
11. Align with, gain information from, and inform xBU Sales Channels regularly
Who You Are:
You serve as a strategic partner to build, grow, and maintain profitable and long-lasting relationships with key accounts. You partner with others to get work done. You deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes.
For this role you will need:
12. 5+ years professional experience in sales or service in an industrial setting.
13. Successful track record in project pursuit, and in identifying and building lasting relationships with key collaborators at customers, contractors, and third parties that have influence on project decisions.
14. The ability to lead indirect teams including effectively assigning and prioritizing tasks, setting up formal and informal networks, follow up on pursuits and coordinate communication with global partners and local pursuit team members.
15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills - fluent in German and English
16. Availability to travel aprox. 70% of business time and location in DACH region.
Preferred qualifications to set you apart:
17. Training with professional experience in the field of chemistry, plant engineering, process engineering, Bachelor or Master would be an advantage.
18. Industry fluency in the Sustainability and Decarbonization and hydrogen space, preferably on automation.
19. Experience in EPC’s and OEM’s working methods for project scheduling and execution
