About the Role
The HW System Integrator / HW Architect is a member of a global HW development team to realize telematics and connectivity functions in automotive IVI and telematics systems, which includes assessment of requirements and feasibility, definition of suitable concepts, implementation and verification.
She/he will be embedded in the Telematics Development Team inside the SBU Connectivity, reporting to the Team Leader HW Engineering/Product Development or/and to Director Hardware Engineering/Delivery.
What You Will Do
1. Technical assistance of HW Project Leader in responsible area
2. Support/perform of analysis, assessment and feasibility of customer requirements and special OEM specifications for RFC, RFI, RFQ and CRs, BOM estimates and calculation, effort estimation for telematics/connectivity functional blocks
3. Perform the analysis of cost-down measures to achieve HW BOM targets
4. Conception, preparation and conducting of system/HW designs, EDM projects, schematics and/or schematics integration of hardware applications and functional blocks/modules for Telematics/Connectivity Systems under consideration of:
- new technologies, quality, cost, suitability for series
- Hardware Development Process acc. Harman BMS and guidelines of SBU Hardware Development as well as close collaboration/alignment with System and SW Architecture and corresponding Experts/FO
5. Assistance/support of HW PM/PL in the provision of technical specifications, documentation and presentation material for Telematics/Connectivity function blocks and products
6. Support/Perform Requirement Engineering Doors, DNG, ALM), Change Management, documentation, DFMEA, … under Harman Tools
7. Define, guide and/or conduct technical measurements (functional, performance, power on/off and quiescent current/S2R, EMC, thermal) for platform/product verification of telematics/connectivity function blocks including real customer use cases based on separated and combined wireless functions during engineering process
8. Assisting in preparation of the technical requirement specifications of purchased parts for Telematics/ Connectivity functional blocks and in the evaluation and selection of suitable supplier
9. Technical interface to involved domains, customer and component supplier
10. Global cooperation with other departments and other location as system design, Construction, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement and Software during the development process
What You Need to Be Successful
11. Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or appropriate graduation)
12. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the HW development, verification and industrialization of In-vehicle Infotainment systems, telematics/connectivity system or other automotive ECUs of similar complexity level
13. Experience in analogue, digital and RF design
14. Expert knowledge of requirements inside the automotive area, especially for EMC
15. Experience with tools for schematic/layout realization and simulation (e.g. Mentor Graphics, SPICE, …) as well as Microsoft applications
16. Knowledge of defect management rules and tools (ticket-based systems, such as Jira or similar)
17. Strong verbal and written English skills
18. High level of creativity combined with solid analytical problem‑solving capabilities
19. Effective communication skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
20. Ability to articulate complex technical topics clearly and defend engineering decisions
21. Structured and target orientated working style as well as proven ability to collaborate within cross‑functional engineering teams
Bonus Points if You Have
22. Experience in the development of analogue, digital and RF designs, especially in wireless applications (e.g., mobile network technologies) and/or telematics systems
23. Experience in requirements management (e.g. DOORS, DNG, ALM) beneficial
