We are seeking passionate and talented students who are eager to shape next-generation products at ZEISS. Integrated within a team of scientists and engineers, you will work on tactile sensing and perception for robotic manipulation. The project is focused on benchmarking state-of-the-art tactile sensors and demonstrating the role of tactile feedback for fine robotic manipulation.

1. Familiarize yourself with the state-of-the-art in tactile sensing, robotics and vision-language-action foundation models
2. Implement prototype solutions using state-of-the-art techniques
3. Validate your results through measurements conducted in a laboratory setup
4. Assess the technical feasibility of your solutions
5. Thoroughly document experimental outcomes and test results for future reference and analysis
Your Profile
6. Currently enrolled in a master’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering)
7. Proficiency in Python is mandatory, experience with ROS2 is a plus
8. Strong foundation in linear algebra, optimization, and methodologies in computer vision
9. Demonstrable experience in hardware prototyping and sensor integration is a plus
10. Prior experience working with real robotic platforms is required
11. A self-motivated and independent working style, coupled with a strong curiosity for tackling challenging topics that advance the state-of-the-art
