General Position Description
The Superintendent will be in control of all field operations and work hand in hand with our Project Management team to construct a safe, high quality, highly profitable project. The Superintendent role is key to creating great client relations and developing our greatest resource, our employees.
This position has jurisdiction over all field operations including safety, quality, efficiency, planning, scheduling, managing resources, team building, risk assessment, cost estimation, subcontractor relations, and execution strategy.
This position is based on-site in Baumholder or Ramstein, Germany.
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with all safety policies, addressing any violations among employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
* Oversee project execution in alignment with the Quality Management System.
* Set clear production objectives for crews, communicate expectations, and ensure adherence.
* Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop and monitor the project schedule, ensuring timely execution.
* Prepare and maintain accurate weekly Three-Week Look Ahead schedules.
* Implement cost-control strategies to optimize labor, materials, equipment, and overall project expenditures.
* Build and strengthen high-performing teams through recruitment, mentoring, and retention of top talent.
* Partner with foremen to ensure efficient planning, surveying, crew sizing, workmanship quality, and overall project safety.
* Lead daily team huddles to resolve issues, share ideas, and maintain productivity and profitability.
* Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.
* Foster client relationships and identify opportunities for future projects.
Qualifications
* EU citizenship or valid work authorization in Germany.
* Minimum 5 years’ recent experience as a superintendent, managing multiple trades, subcontractors, and complex construction projects.
* Strong leadership skills with proven ability to guide diverse teams and handle challenging clients or project scopes.
* Broad knowledge of construction disciplines, including earthwork, structures, mechanical, utilities, and electrical systems.
* Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities in fast-paced environments.
* Exceptional communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
* Pragmatic thinker with sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Working knowledge of the Safety Requirements of USACE EM385-1-1.
Physical Requirements
* Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling or stretching
* Must be able to lift up to 20 kgs at a time.
