Our client, a leading plant-based company, is seeking a Commercial Managing Director (DACH) to drive growth and development in its most successful region.
Reporting to the CEO, the MD will lead the commercial strategy across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during a key phase of organisational transformation. As the company moves towards a more structured, scalable, and matrixed model—with centralised functions including HR, Finance, R&D, and IT—the MD will play a critical role in aligning regional performance with global priorities.

Responsibilities
* Own the go-to-market strategy and commercial performance across DACH, with a primary focus on Germany
* Lead and inspire a hunter-style sales team, driving new customer acquisition and regional growth
* Manage both branded retail and private label channel success
* Deliver on key commercial KPIs including revenue, margin, and customer acquisition
* Act as the regional business leader, ensuring full-market cohesion across matrixed reporting lines
* Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Operations, aligned with global leadership
* Identify and support strategic M&A opportunities; contribute to due diligence and planning processes
* Use market insights to influence both organic and inorganic growth strategies
* Partner with leadership across Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific to share best practices and represent DACH in global forums
Qualifications
* Proven commercial leader with a strong sales execution track record and hunter mindset
* In-depth knowledge of the German retail, food, or FMCG sectors
* Experience in both branded and private label environments
* Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and building high-performing teams
* Comfortable working within complex, matrixed, and fast-changing organisations
* Exposure to plant-based, health food, FMCG, or private equity-backed businesses is a strong advantage
* Pragmatic and hands-on leadership style, with high emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
* Resilient, adaptable, and able to influence cross-functional teams with low ego and high integrity
