The Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology in Sulzbach-Rosenberg conducts applied research, develops innovative technologies for public and industrial clients, and translates these into marketable products and processes. We investigate substances and materials from waste management and recycling and develop technologies for their material or energy recovery. In this master's thesis, you will investigate the recovery of biogas and landfill gas through pyrolysis with the aim of producing hydrogen.
Be part of change
* Literature research on the state of the art in the treatment and utilization of biogas and landfill gas with a focus on innovative processes such as methane pyrolysis
* Design and construction of a pyrolysis laboratory test facility
* Conducting batch tests with different gas mixtures
* Preparation and interpretation of test results
* Derivation of recommendations for scaling the approach with a focus on technical feasibility and economic efficiency
What you contribute
must have:
* Degree in environmental sciences, process or energy engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field
* Enthusiasm for theoretical (research) and practical work (construction and operation of a pilot plant)
* Very good German and/or English language skills
* Resilience, flexibility, high degree of reliability and diligence, ability to work independently, and organizational skills
