The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in » Aerospace Systems Engineering « to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3. Scientific Environment The professorship will be assigned to the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy at the TUM School of Engineering and Design. Responsibilities The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Systems Engineering with a focus on the development of innovative Systems Engineering methodologies, including model-based systems engineering (MBSE), digital twins, AI applications, and agile development processes for satellites, aircraft, and next-generation air mobility systems. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university's bachelor and master programs. An expansion of the existing teaching portfolio of the Department in Systems Engineering with courses on Systems Architecture, Verification & Validation, and Digital Engineering, integrating across Aeronautics and Space programs through project-based learning and industry collaboration is also expected. Qualifications We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level.
