This is what you will do:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert that strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of Alexion’s scientific platform and product/s across the product/s life cycle. He/she is a peer scientific expert who communicates accurate and applicable scientific and medical information to Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs) within a geographic area. In addition, the MSL manages and maintains collegial and professional relationships with HCPs and identifies and facilitates collaboration opportunities with Alexion. The MSL combines strong business acumen and clinical expertise and serves as a peer-to-peer liaison internally.
Responsibilities include:
* Develop and maintain expertise in neurology, especially in Myasthenia gravis and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, and be recognized as an internal and external expert.
* Stay updated on local pharmaceutical regulations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
* Support the development and implementation of local Medical Affairs Plans aligned with global strategies.
* Provide medical leadership and training for commercial and other teams.
* Respond to Medical Information inquiries, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
* Engage with Key Opinion Leaders and stakeholders, including professional organizations.
* Deliver medical education presentations and gather feedback for dissemination.
* Maintain timely scientific exchanges with external and internal stakeholders.
* Lead projects for virtual environments and assess new indications and treatment pathways.
* Identify investigators for clinical research and disease registries.
* Collaborate closely with commercial, sales, and marketing teams.
* Identify and support high-impact medical research projects.
* Support clinical study feasibility and implementation.
* Contribute to local publication plans and data dissemination activities.
* Participate in national and international congresses to develop relationships and gather intelligence.
Minimum requirements:
* At least 3 years of experience in biotech/pharma, preferably in rare diseases.
* Experience as an MSL or in scientific sales.
* Proven relationship development skills and ability to present complex data.
* Experience in rare or ultra-rare diseases is advantageous, especially in neurology.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
* Relevant life sciences degree (Master’s or Diploma).
Preferred qualifications:
* PhD or MD.
* Experience in neurology, especially neuromuscular or neuroimmunological diseases.
* Experience with launching new drugs and clinical development knowledge.
* Ability to work proactively, build networks, and work independently.
