Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for an associate vice president to join our communications and Corporate Social Respsonsibility team!


Business Area

In this role, you’ll collaborate across all legal entities within the EU and support the wider EMEA team, giving you a rare opportunity to gain visibility across the full breadth of our operations. You’ll work closely with colleagues at every level—including senior stakeholders—allowing you to build strong relationships and develop a deep understanding of SMBC’s structure, strategic priorities, and corporate culture. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningly contribution to SMBC’s strategic goals across the region.


Position Description

In this role you will be responsible for:

* Elevating our internal communications: Help enhance our intranet platform EMEA Insight and other digital channels, develop compelling internal campaigns that connect and inspire our teams, champion new ways to evolve and elevate our internal messaging
* Leadership communications: Support senior executives with strategic messaging, impactful presentations and events
* Driving CSR impact: Source, coordinate and facilitate volunteering and fundraising opportunities that make a real difference to our communities across Europe



For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:

* Excellent written English, including spelling and grammar with a meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail
* Ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple projects
* Ability and confidence to work with a range of internal stakeholders, including senior management
* Confidence working independently, managing own priorities, and taking initiative—while also being a strong team player who thrives in a cross-functional, international environment.



About this role:

SMBC is growing in the EU and this role will ensure colleagues across the region continue to feel informed, engaged and motivated. This role will be working remotely from much of the team, whist deeply connected to a supportive and collaborative network across the EU and EMEA.



Our role will enable you to:
Work closely with the communications and CSR team based in London, senior management (up to executive and Board members) in the EU and colleagues in all departments across the bank



What will you bring to the role?

Excellent copywriting skills, with high level of attention to detail

Basic understanding of financial services, ideally corporate and investment banking

Experience working with senior stakeholders

Strong knowledge of the following tools (and/or ability to learn quickly)

* Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word,
* MS Teams, Planner, Forms
* CMS platforms such as MS SharePoint, Digital signage solutions, etc
* Design software/platforms such as Canva, Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign) or similar
