Hauptaufgaben

Serves as Foreman (Meister) over the Preventive Maintenance Section (PM) and Carpenter Shop, exercising full supervisory responsibility for control over work operations involving approximately 18 subordinate workers. Oversees safety compliance and ensures that subordinates receive appropriate safety training. Administers and is responsible for the implementation and strict observation of the USAREUR-AF hearing conservation program within the assigned area of responsibility.
Works under the direction of a Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist (Aufsichtsfuehrender Technischer Angestellter) or other supervisor who provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities and policies and relies upon the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish an adequate quantity and quality of work. Work is reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment within priorities and controls received.

Work Planning: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, how many must be delayed, and the number of types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials and equipment available and required. Develops and implements preventive maintenance schedules for facilities. Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, service logs, and equipment history. Oversees inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
Work Direction.

Journeyman workers: Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures instructs subordinates in new procedures, and provides advice when problems arise. Ensures work activities comply with safety regulations and operational standards. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Adjusts plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determines equipment, supplies, and equipment at work site as needed. Coordinates work of the Team with other Units or Teams that may be involved.

Trainee workers: Develops a structured training plan in coordination with the designated supervisor. Supervises and provides instructions to the worker. Imparts the technical skills, competencies, and knowledge to the trainee in alignment with the defined training objectives.

Personnel Management: Interviews and selects subordinate employees. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Counsels employees on problems; adjusts informal complaints through discussion with employees and Works Council representatives. Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed.

General Administration: Participates in Budgeting process and requisitioning of supplies and equipment and in work management planning meetings with superiors. Promotes the participation of subordinates in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Maintains production reports and records. Periodically reviews Job Descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy; reports detailing of employees to jobs other than their own; initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining.

Personally performs non-supervisory duties for short durations, particularly when work process changes or new methods are introduced and may serve in the absence of the supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung und erfolgreich abgelegte Meisterpruefung im entsprechenden Handwerk.
Fuer innerbetriebliche Arbeitnehmer gilt: der Meisterbrief kann mit einer abgeschlossenen Berufsausbildung im entsprechenden Handwerk und 5 Jahren Berufserfahrung in der Lohngruppe A-6 oder A-7 im entsprechenden Handwerk ersetzt werden.

A completed apprenticeship and a Master degree (Meisterbrief).
Internal applicants can substitute the Master degree with a completed apprenticeship and at least 5 years of experience at the journeyman level at the A-6 or A-7 in the appropriate trade.

• Bewerber müssen den Führerschein Klasse B besitzen. / Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.

• Führerschein Klasse BE wünschenswert. / German driver's license class BE desired.

SPRACHKENNTNISSE:/LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:

Englischlevel B2 und Deutschlevel C1 erforderlich. /

Beschäftigungsbedingungen

• Es handelt sich um eine unbefristete Vollzeitstelle (38.5 Std. /Woche). / This is a perm. full-time position (38.5 hrs /week).

• Der Stelleninhaber dieser Position ist verpflichtet gelegentlich Dienstreisen durchzuführen. / The incumbent of this position is occasionally required to perform TDY (Temporary Duty Travel).

• Heben und Tragen bis zu 30 kg erforderlich. / Employee must be able to lift and carry up to 66 lbs.
