About the Job
The Medical Reporting Curator, Genomics Analysis & Reporting (GAR) is integrated within a team of scientists and analysts to perform dry lab analysis and interpretation steps of next generation sequencing data in a high-complexity clinical diagnostic laboratory. In addition, this position contributes to the collection and presentation of quality metrics and scientific development related to content generation to support the creation of high-quality, personalized diagnostic reports for each patient.
Key Responsibilities
1. Apply scientific knowledge to improve and advance FMI’s clinical oncology knowledgebase.
2. Collaborate with other FMI scientists and analysts to review and refine existing medical content.
3. Organize, refine, and revise report information into concise and comprehensive formats for patient and physician to understand.
4. Retrieve database content to prepare reports describing patient test results.
5. Review genomic variant calls using proprietary and publicly available tools, including but not limited to the Integrative Genomics Viewer (IGV), in close collaboration with the scientific team
6. Provide test results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with the best possible quality within defined turn-around times
7. Update database content per SOPs.
8. Provide on-call support for GAR.
9. Contribute to software development processes to support reporting projects.
10. Contribute to development projects relating to reporting improvements.
11. Contribute to additional projects in support of broader GAR and FMI projects, as needed.
12. Deliver on tight deadlines.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
14. Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or closely related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience; OR Master’s degree and 3+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
15. Master’s Degree in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or closely related field
16. Ability to perform careful work under deadline pressure
17. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with strong attention to detail
18. Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision
19. Superior verbal and written communication skills
20. Strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills
21. Understanding of HIPAA and importance of patient safety and data privacy regulations and guidelines
