Director External Manufacturing (all genders) - full-time, permanent, Ludwigshafen
Serve as the Lead – Established Brands, External Manufacturing, within AbbVie's Operations Division. Lead and build a team of Manufacturing Professionals assigned to Third Party Manufacture (TPM) contracts for established brands within the AbbVie portfolio. Ensure high-quality products are manufactured in compliance with local and international regulations, and are released and delivered according to forecasts, schedules, and planned costs.
Responsibilities:
* Lead a team of External Manufacturing Managers to negotiate Manufacturing Service Agreements and amendments, ensuring compliance and effective planning for material procurement.
* Ensure global logistics support all manufacturing phases in line with Purchasing and Supplier quality expectations.
* Maintain timely communication with TPMs regarding product forecasts, manufacturing, and delivery schedules.
* Develop and oversee Financial Operating Plans, updates, LRP, LBE, and standard processes to meet financial goals.
* Monitor manufacturing performance using appropriate metrics and ensure standards meet AbbVie's quality expectations.
* Coordinate with internal teams to ensure TPMs meet regulatory requirements, conduct audits, and manage deviations and product dispositions efficiently.
* Promote a culture of performance improvement across TPMs, encouraging efficiency and effectiveness.
* Coach managers and establish clear expectations regarding responsibilities, goals, and behaviors, exemplifying excellent performance and talent management.
* Conduct management reviews and communicate TPM performance, issues, and improvements to stakeholders.
* Represent Manufacturing in internal Brand Teams and manage staff through hiring, performance management, and development.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field; advanced degrees (Master’s or Doctorate) preferred.
* 15+ years of experience, including technical expertise and project management skills.
* Progressive leadership experience in Operations (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering).
* Strong business acumen and leadership in complex operations.
