Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Control Chemist to join our team in Berlin. The main responsibilities of a QC Chemist are to carrying out analytical testing, documentation and reporting. The QC chemist may also be required to perform method development, method performance characterisation including validation or participate in research projects. All QC Chemists are expected to actively be involved in housekeeping of the labs including supporting maintenance of testing infrastructure Role and Responsibilities Carry out GMP-compliant analytical testing of samples Sampling and testing of chemicals (esp. process raw materials and polymers) and proteins, using the necessary associated ‘wet’ chemistry and instrumental techniques Ensuring samples and products are handled appropriately according to standard operating procedures and work instructions Preparing test records, participation in drafting analysis reports, stability reports and Certificates of Analysis Participation in development of analytical procedures for the analysis of raw materials, in-process samples and pharmaceutical products Performing instrumental analysis to assist in method development Researching literature and pharmacopeia for methods when necessary Assist the other members of the QC team with method development tasks Ensuring GMP-compliant maintenance and qualification of QC equipment Organizing and carrying out equipment qualification as requested by the QC Manager, ensuring all qualification documents are complete for equipment release Ensuring all qualifications are done as described in the SOPs Manage the necessary documentation as required by standard operating procedures Requirements BSc or higher degree in Pharmacy, analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related. Or appropriate vocational training plus 5 year experience in an analytical lab doing analysis Experience with method development and execution of detector-coupled (e.g. UV/VIS, RI, ELS) analytical separation (HPLC, U(H)PLC, GPC) technics of primarily proteins and peptides including sample preparation Use of chromatography data systems (CDS) in instrument control and data processing Use of office software such as spreadsheets in data evaluation and text processing programs Experience with analytical techniques: HPLC-(UV/RI/ELS/CAD), spectrophotometric analysis (UV/VIS, IR) especially on peptides, proteins and/or synthetic polymers Strong analytical interpretation skills General technical user knowledge in analytical instrumentation Intermediate to good English and German language competency (level B2/C1) in speech and writing Self-motivated, well organized, and pro-active learner Ability to work independently in a structured manner Ability and willingness to train and instruct coworkers in newly developed testing methods Team player especially concerning work and lab organisation Good communication skills About us Biosynth® is an innovative life sciences reagents, custom synthesis and manufacturing services company headquartered in Staad, Switzerland.
