As an AWS/Snowflake Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d), you will become a technical expert and mentor. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Modern Data Platform Architecture: Design and implementation of scalable data lake and data warehouse architectures with AWS services (Redshift, Glue, EMR, Kinesis) and Snowflake as the central analytics engine
* Data Pipeline Engineering: Development of high-performance, fault-tolerant ELT/ETL pipelines using modern frameworks such as Apache Spark, dbt, and AWS Step Functions for complex data processing workflows
* Snowflake Platform Optimization: Design and implementation of Snowflake data models, performance tuning, multi-cluster warehouses, and advanced features such as data sharing and secure data exchange
* Real-time Analytics Solutions: Implementation of streaming analytics platforms with Kinesis, Kafka and Snowflake Streams for real-time data processing and live dashboarding
* Data Integration & Migration: Planning and implementation of complex data migration projects from legacy systems to modern cloud data platforms with minimal downtime
* DevOps for Data: Building DataOps practices with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD pipelines for data processing, and automated testing of data pipelines
* Performance Engineering: Optimization of data processing workflows, query performance tuning and cost optimization for large data volumes in cloud environments
* Technical Consulting: Advising clients on data strategy, technology selection, and best practices for modern data governance and compliance requirements
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Your day often begins with a review of the nightly data pipeline runs and performance monitoring dashboards to ensure that all critical data flows have been executed successfully. You will then conduct a stand-up with your data engineering team to discuss the progress of current implementations and address any issues.
The mornings are often characterized by technical deep-dive sessions with customers, in which you design complex data architectures—be it the modernization of a legacy data warehouse or the implementation of a real-time analytics platform with Snowflake. You will work closely with data scientists and business analysts to ensure that the technical solution optimally meets the business requirements.
In the afternoons, you'll focus on hands-on development work: You'll develop new dbt models, optimize Spark jobs for better performance, or implement new Snowflake features for advanced analytics use cases. An important part of your work will also be code review and mentoring junior data engineers—you'll share your expertise in technical discussions and lead workshops on modern data engineering patterns.
You will often end your day working on innovation projects, where you will evaluate new AWS services or Snowflake features, develop proof-of-concepts for ML pipeline integration, or work on documenting best practices and learnings for the team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* 4+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, and data platform implementation using AWS services
* Proven Snowflake expertise in data modeling, performance optimization, administration, and advanced features
* Solid knowledge of AWS Data Services (Redshift, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, S3) and their integration into modern data architectures
* Programming expertise in Python/Scala/SQL with experience in Spark, dbt or comparable data processing frameworks
* Infrastructure as Code knowledge (Terraform, CloudFormation) for automated deployment of data infrastructures
* Excellent communication skills for collaboration with technical teams and business stakeholders
* Fluent German and English skills for international client projects and global collaboration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* AWS and Snowflake certifications (Data Analytics, Data Engineer, SnowPro Core/Advanced)
* Expertise in real-time data processing with Kafka, Kinesis or other streaming technologies
* Machine Learning Pipeline experience with SageMaker, MLflow or integration of ML models into data processing workflows
* Data governance and compliance knowledge for regulated industries (GDPR, SOX, HIPAA)
* Container and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS) for containerized data processing workloads
* Industry-specific data modeling experience in areas such as financial services, retail or manufacturing
* Thought leadership through conference presentations on data engineering topics or open source contributions
* International project experience with multi-region data architectures and global compliance requirements
