The OLED Patterning Business Unit develops new front-plane organic display technology and hardware supporting display manufacturers throughout the world. Joining the OLED Display team offers significant career opportunities to contribute to the growth of Applied Materials integrated material solutions for global customers.
We are looking for a motivated, energetic Manager / Team Lead Mechanical Engineering to join our team in Alzenau, Germany, and excel in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. The Candidate would be responsible for driving development and commercialization of OLED Evaporator equipment, with a focus on high-temperature sources for metal evaporation, including:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of direct reports as well as a matrixed development team of total 5 (2 direct, 3 matrixed) Design Engineers.
2. Design and Development: Own the full design life cycle from concept to manufacturing. Develop and improve design in a global environment with teams across several continents.
3. Research: Research and develop new technologies and ensure that new processes, designs and methods are integrated into products
4. Risk Management: Analyze design maturity & robustness to manage risk exposure to the Business Unit. Proactively drive Quality & Robustness improvements of the products.
5. Manufacturing & Sourcing Engagement: Ensure early learnings from prototype builds directly feedback into the design. Drive improvements and modifications based on sourcing strategy and supplier selection to optimize cost structure and quality.
6. Process Improvement: Identify improvements or resolve issues related to interfacing business processes within the Business Unit, or with Operations (Sourcing & Manufacturing) as well as Field organizations.
7. Customer loyalty: Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering on time product releases in accordance with specified requirements and solving complex issues
8. Travel: Periodic travel between Applied Materials offices in California, Germany, Korea, India, Taiwan, Japan, China, and others.
Requirements & Qualifications:
9. Education: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
10. Experience: 5+ years of experience vacuum coating technologies and knowledge of (vertical) OLED Evaporator design, with a focus on high-temperature sources as a plus.
11. Leading Capabilities: Experience in leading a functional team and driving design projects
12. Teamwork: Able to work in large, multi-disciplinary teams with strong interpersonal communication skills & proven capabilities to work in a matrix organization
13. Skills: Profound knowledge of Creo Parametric and TeamCenter,
14. Communication: Excellent communication skills in English and German
