Job Description: Program Manager – Testing & R&D Initiatives (Wind Turbines, OEM)
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Program Manager to lead and oversee Testing and R&D initiatives in wind turbine technology. The Program Manager will work in alignment with the R&D team in the Headquarters in China to identify and launch initiatives related to design validation, certification, performance improvement and R&D programs to be executed in European region. This role ensures effective coordination between engineering, R&D, testing facilities, and external partners while delivering projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage testing and R&D programs related to new wind turbine components, prototypes, systems, and technologies.
* Develop collaboration lines in alignment with the headquarters in terms of identifying emerging technologies and solutions with European based companies and launch collaboration plans accordingly.
* Develop project charters, work breakdown structures, and execution plans in alignment with corporate innovation strategy.
* Coordinate across cross-functional teams (design, simulation, testing, manufacturing, supply chain, and field service) to ensure seamless program execution.
* Oversee validation and verification processes, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and environmental testing of components and full turbines as per European standards.
* Ensure compliance with international certification standards (e.g., IEC, DNV-GL, UL) and customer requirements.
* Manage budgets, schedules, and resources, tracking KPIs and reporting program performance to senior leadership.
* Identify risks, implement mitigation plans, and ensure safe execution of all R&D and testing activities within Europe.
* Foster collaboration with universities, research institutes, certification bodies, and external laboratories.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in test methodology, digital tools, and data analytics.
* Promote innovation, sustainability, and technology leadership in the company’s product portfolio.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field); Master’s degree preferred.
* 8+ years of experience in program/project management in the renewable energy, aerospace, or heavy industrial sector, with a focus on R&D and testing.
* Proven experience managing complex technical programs with multiple stakeholders.
* Strong knowledge of wind turbine systems, structural dynamics, materials testing, and power electronics preferred.
* Familiarity with certification standards and test protocols in the wind industry (IEC 61400 series, DNV-GL guidelines, etc.).
* Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work in a global, multicultural environment and travel as required.
