Job Title: Financial Controller
The LCSB financial controlling and grants team member will work closely with research groups, management team, and Research Facilitators of the LCSB.
* Financial Operations & Support:
o Prepare, verify, and maintain accurate financial figures using Excel, Power BI, and SAP.
o Support ad hoc financial requests and analyses from research groups, management, and external stakeholders.
o Ensure the accuracy and quality control of all financial transactions and reports.
o Collect and analyse income data from external projects to support financial monitoring and reporting.
* Reporting & Analysis:
o Maintain and continuously improve financial reporting tools, cost models, and analytical procedures.
o Co-develop and maintain structured and reliable financial databases to ensure data availability and integrity.
o Collect, interpret, and analyse financial data, providing insights and advice proactively or upon request.
o Provide flexible and timely support for ad hoc reporting, analyses, and projects.
* Planning & Forecasting:
o Coordinate and lead the consolidation of annual budgets and multi-year financial plans across departments and units.
o Maintain financial forecast models, integrating updated assumptions, trends, and strategic objectives.
o Monitor actual versus forecasted performance, analyse variances, and work closely with budget holders to identify and implement corrective actions.
* Systems & Processes:
o Update and maintain the SAP organisational unit structure to ensure accurate financial mapping and reporting.
o Continuously review and improve financial processes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and alignment with institutional requirements.
Required Skills
* A university degree in Economics, Business Management, Finance or Accounting is required.
* A minimum 5 years' experience in accounting/finance administration in the research context is essential.
* Experience with financial handling of third-party funded projects is considered a strong asset.
* Strong analytical skills combined with target-oriented thinking and acting are necessary.
* Proficiency in computer software, including Excel, Power BI, analysis, and SAP is required.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial in a multicultural environment.
* An ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-changing environment is essential.
