Duties Description As a Maintenance Supervisor 2, you will work under the direction of a Plant Superintendent and/or Maintenance Supervisor 3 while managing and overseeing PSES Depts., maintenance, repair, and construction activities at the facility and community homes. You will also provide direction to the activities of skilled trades, semiskilled, and unskilled positions including but not limited to:
•Reviewing maintenance requests to determine what materials, equipment, and staff are needed
•Planning all rehabilitation and construction projects
•Implementing and enforcing preventative maintenance program
•Inspecting all work in progress and completed work to ensure regulatory and code compliance
•Developing training programs
•Assists staff by providing instructions and assistance in resolving work related problems and in the performance of specific tasks.
•Implements and enforces safety procedures and standards for all facility maintenance operations.
•Inspects work performed by outside contractors for conformance with project plans and specifications.
•Maintains written records of work performed and completed and account for labor and materials used.
• Evaluates the work performance of subordinate employees and take corrective action.
•Inspects facility to determine maintenance needs and recommends projects based on findings.

Minimum Qualifications Promotion: one year of permanent service as a Maintenance Supervisor 1 and reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service Eligible List for this title.
Open Competitive: Two years of first-level supervisory experience in either the maintenance and operation of a physical plant; building construction; and/or building renovation and/or repair projects.
Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
