Job Description
We are on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer (Machine Learning) to join the Quick Commerce Data Science team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.
As part of the Integrated Partners Science team, you’ll be part of the ideation, design, prototyping and deployment of Data Products that help solve and scale solutions for our local business partners. A couple examples are: recommendations system for item replacement and a Data Product to help reduce items being out of stock when a picker is fulfilling the orders.
As a Senior Software Engineer, your primary value lies in tackling problems at scale by building and maintaining the high-performance serving layer for our ML models. A core part of this is integrating multiple microservices in real-time to fetch external data, apply business rules, and enforce operational constraints to enrich model predictions and shape the final decision. This critical layer directly impacts the algorithm's logic, leading to best-in-class efficiency and service across the Delivery Hero network.
1. Scale and Perform: Architect and build solutions at scale, optimizing for low-latency performance and high efficiency in production.
2. System Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of the backend serving layer, from design through deployment and maintenance.
3. Collaborate and Optimize: Work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Data Engineers to understand needs and build solutions that optimize their workflows and transition models to production.
4. Innovate and Suggest: Proactively suggest how the team can leverage new technologies and architectures to support new use cases.
5. Leverage Cloud: Utilize modern technologies and public cloud infrastructure to build highly available systems for multiple teams using CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.

Qualifications
6. Expert Proficiency in Go & Python: 4+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on building high-performance, concurrent backend services in Go and integrating with data/ML libraries in Python.
7. System Design: Proven experience designing and implementing new, scalable applications from scratch (, gRPC services, GraphQL).
8. Streaming technologies: Experience with high-throughput data streaming technologies (, Kafka, Pub/Sub).
9. Technical Evaluation: Experience in technical explorations to evaluate technologies, conducting comprehensive pros and cons analyses, and proposing solutions for complex system design challenges.
10. DevOps Practices: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent).
11. Containerization: Expertise with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
12. Communication Skills: Fluency and clarity in English communication, both written and verbal.
Nice-to-Haves (Advanced Expertise)
13. Strong conceptual understanding of the MLOps lifecycle, including model serving, monitoring, and pipeline orchestration.
14. Prior hands-on experience in ML Engineering or MLOps, including tools like Metaflow, MLflow, Argo Workflows, or Cloud Notebooks.
15. Experience in deep-diving into existing complex systems for performance investigations and improvements.
