Anticipatory Action Expert*

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until june 30, 2026. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be home based with frequent travels to Welthungerhife project countries.
As Anticipatory Action Expert you will be responsible for both the administrative coordination of an Welthungerhilfe Anticipatory Action Program as well as providing technical support to the country offices participating (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Mali, Malawi, Burkina Faso). This includes the technical guidance concerning orientation, capacity building, development, implementation, and institutaionalization of Anticipatory Action Plans, the guidance on risk and impact assessments as well as the utilization of hazard forecasting methods. In terms of administration of the program the position will be responsible to ensure the administrative coherence and the administrative implementation of the program and its sub-projects.
Your responsibilities
1. Support Welthungerhilfe’s Anticipatory Action program in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Mali, Malawi, and Burkina Faso - in particular the development of Anticipatory Action Plans (AAP)
2. Facilitate onboarding and capacity building workshops in participating country offices
3. Facilitate trainings in AAP development and respective preparatory work for country offices participating and support relevant regional Anticipatory Action meetings, seminars, conferences, and dialogue platforms
4. Monitoring of project progress and administrative coherence, Ensure an ongoing update, institutionalization and country ownership of existing AAPs
5. Participate in technical consultations and administrative monitoring of implementation of Anticipatory Action
6. Support on MEAL activities and assessment pre- and post-trigger
7. Support the review and monitoring of AAP projects as well as support of their implementation
8. Support the strategic development and mainstreaming of Anticipatory Action within the broader organization
9. Support the utilization of lessons learned, methods, tools and approaches of AA in order to further mainstream and instititionalize Anticipatory Action across WHH
Your profile
10. A university degree in a relevant field like disaster risk reduction, disaster risk management, or similar
11. At least one to three years of professional experience in humanitarian action
12. Experience in development of anticipatory action plans, conducting vulnerability assessments, and applying participatory methods
13. Experience in the further development and localization of forecasting and anticipation methods for weather-related and non-weather-related hazards
14. You recognize the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work.
15. Willingness to work in countries where Welthungerhilfe or program partners are implementing or supporting anticipatory action projects
16. Willingness and flexibility to travel to project countries
17. Very good English and French language skills
