The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a technician in support of the Operations Flight. Assist the Operations Flight in the day-to-day management of environmental compliance programs with specific focus on the Base Recycling Center. Responsibilities Operate Base Recycling Center (BRC). Assist with inspections and documentation of deficiencies. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least six (6) months of general experience. Examples of specialized experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the Base Recycle Center Clerk position, such as facilitating inspections and audits by providing facility access and records. Performs work that enhances the safety of the work environment. Handling work that requires good understanding of structure and workflow in the organization being served. OR EDUCATION: ???????I have successfully completed one year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of general experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and other guidance to direct segregation and disposal of recyclables, solid waste, and household hazardous waste. Ability to maintain safety standards. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
