Who We Are
vialytics is revolutionizing how cities manage road infrastructure. Our AI‑powered road management system, combining intelligent software with a simple smartphone, enables municipalities to detect road damage, prioritize maintenance, and make smarter infrastructure decisions. Founded in 2018, we have rapidly scaled across Europe and the U.S., supporting 900+ municipalities in 7 countries. Backed by a $10M Series A, vialytics is a fast‑growing scale‑up with ambitious international growth plans.
Your Mission at vialytics
This role is about helping us get there: building a high‑performing engineering organization, setting clear technical direction, and creating the platform and systems we need to scale well. You will also be responsible for the Data Science function, ensuring our data and AI capabilities are tightly connected to the way we build products and scale the business. You will work closely with leaders across Product, Design, and Data to turn ambitious ideas into reliable, customer‑facing products. We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, product‑minded, and great at building teams. A leader who knows how to combine strategy with execution and bring AI into products in practical ways.
Your Key Responsibilities
Engineering leadership and organizational scale: Lead Engineering, Platform, and Data Science; hire, coach, and raise the bar for engineering leaders, especially product‑minded engineering managers who build strong teams, attract top talent, and hold a high performance bar.
Organizational structure: Build leadership structures, team design, and career paths to scale while maintaining a high bar for quality, accountability, and team health.
Delivery and cross‑functional execution: Own engineering execution and delivery with consistency, urgency, and high standards, helping teams work effectively in product trios from discovery through delivery.
Operating rhythms: Establish clear operating rhythms, planning, and decision‑making processes that help the organization move fast without losing focus.
Platform craft: Raise the bar on engineering craft (architecture, CI/CD, quality, observability, developer experience) and own invisible foundations: data integrity, security posture, monitoring, vendor relationships.
AI‑native practices: Build a scalable platform and lead the adoption of AI‑native engineering practices and tooling, using them pragmatically to improve productivity, quality, and speed.
Data Science and AI direction: Partner with Data Science to connect AI and research to product and engineering execution; scale computer vision and next‑gen AI (incl. LLMs).
Technical alignment: Align on technical direction with the CPTO and product leadership, make strong business‑minded technology decisions, and bring emerging technology trends to the table proactively.
We would be the perfect match if you
You have led and scaled engineering teams from 30 to 70+ engineers in a B2B SaaS product‑led environment, with at least 5 years of experience in such roles, either as a CTO or reporting to a CTO/CPTO.
You are a product‑minded engineering leader with strong business judgment and deep technical credibility. You can go deep when needed and connect technical decisions to customer, product, and business impact.
You have partnered closely with Data Science/ML teams, integrating ML into product development and ensuring initiatives deliver real product value.
You believe in cross‑functional teams and a DevOps mindset, with engineering owning the full cycle and using metrics like DORA to drive performance.
You are driven by real agility, shipping value continuously and adapting quickly, rather than ceremony.
You are a leader of leaders who develops managers, coaches on people leadership, and builds scalable processes across planning, delivery, and operations, communicating clearly through structured reporting.
You are excited about AI transforming engineering and have led or are ready to lead teams through the shift, driving adoption with a clear point of view.
You bring a product‑oriented, cross‑functional, outcome‑driven approach to engineering leadership, valuing pragmatic ways of working and strong collaboration across Product, Design, and Engineering.
You are located either in Berlin or around Stuttgart to be able to visit Stuttgart regularly.
