In addition to the original posting in Düsseldorf, this role has been opened up in this client's Berlin location: We're partnering with a global organisation that's rapidly scaling across Europe - and they're now searching for a Director of Category Management to take full ownership of their FMCG division.
This is a senior strategic leadership role at the heart of the company's European growth plans. You'll be responsible for setting the direction, shaping the category vision, and leading a large team to deliver significant commercial impact in one of the business's most important verticals.
The Role
You'll be the driving force behind the entire non-food FMCG category strategy - steering everything from supplier partnerships and commercial terms to assortment strategy, pricing models, and customer experience.
Your remit will span multiple sub-categories, and you'll lead a sizeable, high-performing team, shaping how the business engages with major global brands and ensuring it remains ahead of consumer demand in a fast-moving, competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and execute the category's strategic direction across multiple verticals, aligning with broader commercial and growth objectives.
* Lead and mentor a large, multi-layered team, building capability and fostering a high-performance culture.
* Build and strengthen partnerships with top-tier FMCG brands, negotiating contracts and driving joint business plans that unlock long-term value.
* Oversee the full commercial lifecycle - including buying, assortment planning, promotional strategy, pricing, and performance optimisation.
* Partner closely with supply chain, marketing, and data teams to deliver an integrated, high-impact customer proposition.
* Leverage analytics and consumer insights to anticipate trends, inform decision-making, and identify opportunities for category growth.
About You
* Extensive leadership experience within a retailer or e-commerce environment, managing large teams and covering multiple sub-categories.
* Proven track record in non-food FMCG, with strong relationships across leading global brands.
* Strategic, commercially astute, and confident operating in high-growth, fast-paced settings where speed and adaptability are key.
* Fluent in German with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
This is an opportunity to shape the direction of a major category within a global business that's scaling fast - and to leave a lasting mark on how consumers across Europe engage with household FMCG brands.
