What you can expect from us...
* Being an integral part of the dynamic team shaping the strategy and developing business across the diversified international companies of Hubert Burda Media. The strategy team is core to the group’s future success and development, and as such is represented on the Burda International Leadership Team
* Having the opportunity to work with in-country businesses – from the UK over CEE to South East Asia – developing and advancing digital business and services including content publishing platforms, e-commerce, event businesses, and creative agencies. We focus on generating organic growth by entering new market verticals, creating products and expansion through acquisitions
* Leading local teams to develop and execute strategic projects – ranging from establishing new ventures to developing the operating model of existing business
* Developing and evaluating business opportunities and corporate innovation – from own initiatives, over partnerships to optimising existing business – on a global level
* Working on (tech) product innovation across countries and developing commercial success in the highly dynamic, changing media landscape
* Cooperating with expert teams within the Burda group (e.g. in investments, product management etc.) to jointly develop business across the Burda ‘platform’
* Deploying a profound commercial understanding of consumer (commerce) and media trends to oversee the creation of market intelligence, as well as drive business and acquisition cases
* Direct reporting line to the Strategy Director who is part of the international holding leadership team; teaming up with in-country senior executives on project work as well as dynamic and energetic professionals at both Burda Headquarters.
* Contributing to our entrepreneurially driven, non-hierarchical team means taking on challenging tasks, creating impact, and advancing our highly diverse global businesses. We thrive on new ideas and give people the opportunity to champion them
What we would expect from you...
* 5-7 years of work experience within a strategic development role at a digital media business, tech firm, top-tier management consultancy, and/or a B2C venture environment
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a business, finance, or marketing-related field with excellent academic performance
* Strong track record of evaluating and solving business and digital innovation challenges
* Profound knowledge of digital B2C business models; prior experience in media and commerce is an advantage
* Extensive experience and passion in leading cross-functional projects and managing workstreams; ability to independently work with local country management and direct external advisors
* Adept at working with business plans as well as overseeing operational performance
* Excellent ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders
* Highly evolved interpersonal and intercultural skills to manoevre working in an international context. Highly collaborative
* Spirited can-do attitude, driven by curiosity, entrepreneurial thinking and a bias for action
* Fluency in English. Proficient command of the German language
