For our growing cyber underwriting team in Frankfurt, we are looking for motivated talent who wants to build a career in cyber insurance and contribute to a specialist underwriting platform with strong European ambition.
The Role
As Underwriter / Junior Underwriter – Cyber SME, you will support the underwriting and development of Orvia’s SME cyber portfolio across the DACH region.
Orvia already has an SME cyber proposition in place, with existing policies and incoming submissions providing a solid starting point. This role is focused on building from that foundation: developing broker relationships, supporting new business opportunities, improving underwriting processes and helping grow a profitable and sustainable SME cyber book.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in cyber insurance while taking an active role in business development. You will work closely with senior underwriters and the Head of Cyber, gaining hands-on experience in risk assessment, broker communication, pricing, policy administration, portfolio development and market positioning.
Key Responsibilities
* Underwrite and support the underwriting of SME cyber risks within agreed authority.
* Help develop Orvia’s SME cyber book across the DACH region.
* Work on existing submissions, renewals and new business opportunities.
* Review broker submissions and collect required underwriting information.
* Analyse cyber risk profiles using questionnaires, external scans and available underwriting tools.
* Prepare quotes, terms, endorsements and renewal documentation.
* Communicate with brokers regarding submissions, missing information, coverage questions and policy administration.
* Support broker relationship management and help identify profitable growth opportunities.
* Assist with portfolio monitoring, reporting and data quality.
* Contribute to the development of underwriting processes, SME cyber products and market positioning.
* Build knowledge of cyber risk, insurance coverage, claims trends and the wider cyber market.
Your Profile
* First experience in insurance, underwriting, broking, cyber, technology or financial services is helpful.
* Strong interest in cyber risk, technology and specialty insurance.
* Interest in developing a profitable SME cyber book across the DACH region.
* Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
* Good communication skills and willingness to engage with brokers.
* Commercial awareness and interest in business development.
* Eager to learn, proactive and comfortable working in a growing business.
* Fluent German and English.
* Good Excel and general MS Office skills.
* Insurance apprenticeship, university degree or relevant professional background preferred.
