Job Summary
The Government Relations Manager is responsible for supporting the Director Government Relations and Vice President of Global Government Relations; providing research, analysis and advocacy to support the German Public Sector team; monitoring German legislative and regulatory developments; and supporting other activities in the political and public policy areas in support of the Government Relations team’s efforts.
Specific area of responsibility
• Provide research and analysis to support business development and strategy of the German Public Sector business for NetApp.
• Provide research and advocacy support to the Director of Government Relations relating to the European government institutions and other Member States as needed.
• Actively track state and federal legislative and regulatory developments including German Federal and state government budgets and procurement opportunities.
• Prepare background information, presentations, white papers and talking points for GR staff in support of GR activities and directly present to both internal and external audiences.
• Represent NetApp in and work with local trade associations including AmCham Germany, ITI and Bitcom, as well as the US Embassy, to support NetApp’s policy and business objectives.
• Identify and provide analysis of policy trends to help inform business decisions, develop policy positions, and advance the company’s business objectives and initiatives.
• Help to establish NetApp as a trusted thought leader by promoting the company with government stakeholders and policy influencers at the federal and state levels.
• Support internal and external clients by monitoring, analyzing, and providing insights into the political, legislative, procurement, and public policy landscapes
.• Conduct research, provide analysis, and prepare issue briefs explaining the political, societal, and legislative dynamics on a wide range of policy issues.
• Manage a portfolio of public policy issues and track and report on policy and budget trends and developments, providing recommendations on positioning.

Qualifications
• 8+ years of professional experience in public policy
• Excellent writing skills are a must.
• Policy expertise in the area of cybersecurity would be a bonus.
• Bachelors degree required, masters or law degree a bonus.
