Thesis in the direction of acoustic lensing (m/f/d) Do you want to be active on interesting with your internship project? We’re looking for our research department a candidate for a Thesis in the direction of acoustic lensing (m/f/d) Our department practices research on new technologies and we develop innovative electronic and mechanical prototypes as well as novel software methods for a wide range of application areas at Rosenxt, including renewable energies, offshore and underwater technology, and sensors in industrial plants. Ultrasound is a technology with a broad application within Rosenxt that can be used in various contexts, e.g. for pipeline wall thickness measurements, orientation of an inspection robot’s sensors to the object, the detection of cracks; inherently it is also generally suitable for geometry measurements and much more. How good Ultrasound works is always depending on the materials involved and the geometry of the system it is being used in. In a most simple configuration, a transducer emits an ultrasound pulse and by using the time delay delta_t between two echoes, e.g. from the front wall and the back wall of an object, the intended distances, respectively the object thickness, can be determined. Our aim is to explore the use of specific sound patterns for the high resolution detection of geometric features and investigate the potential for applications with ultrasound.
What you can expect: The thesis work shall explore the feasibility of using acoustic metamaterials to shape the emission of sound beams and potentially to focus (potentially redirect) sound emissions on a to be inspected object and the capability to receive the sent signal back to build a higher resolution image from one measurement only. Furthermore a peak review for the feasibility on other physical sensortypes is wished.
What you can bring: Physics, Mechatronics or similar, Informatics and Mathematics students with interest in practical work. Ideally experience with building up/using a lab testsetup.
Look forward to: We’ll take the time to take you along on our projects and to embed your thesis into our projects. You will be supervised and supported by experienced employees. Motivated team: Become part of a motivated and highly qualified team. Personal and professional development: shape your professional development in a supportive environment. Shared challenges: Look forward to mastering the challenges of the future together with us.
We‘re looking forward to receiving your complete application, consisting of: Cover letter, please write which area and which activities you are interested in, your academic background and your ideas about your work with us. Please tell us in your cover letter your desired start date, the duration of your thesis and whether you would like to do a (mandatory) internship before your thesis. Relevant certificates.
