Beschreibung

At the earliest possible date. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (65%) for 3 years. The position may be extended, depending on legal regulations. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

The Chair of Social Research Methods focuses on developing innovative research methods to study timely, socially relevant issues. It offers an ideal environment for conducting impactful research and developing methodological skills.

Your tasks:
* This position is tied to working towards a doctorate
* Supporting research activities (including work in the Visual Analytics Research Lab - VARL) and teaching
* Contributing to departmental administration
* Organizing academic events
Our expectations:
* A graduate degree in social sciences (i.e., German Diplom and / or master’s degree) is required. Applicants with a degree in computer science are also welcome if they can demonstrate knowledge of social science topics through participation in subject-specific courses.
* Good command of written and spoken English is advantageous.
* Knowledge of quantitative research methods (using R or Python)
* A respectful and positive approach to working with colleagues and students

Desirable Additional Qualifications:

* Basic knowledge of topics such as artificial intelligence, machine behavior, or situational interaction analysis in the context of social inequality, or interest in and willingness to learn about these topics
* Experience with methods in computational social science, especially computer vision, simulation techniques, or natural language processing
* Experience in designing and conducting experimental research
* Interest in and openness to qualitative methods and mixed methods
* German language skills
