Hauptaufgaben
About this Position: Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager directing comprehensive safety programs at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
Duties:
- Supervises safety staff by assigning work, setting priorities, and evaluating performance standards.
- Advises commanders and staff on safety regulations, standards, and emergency preparedness plans.
- Develops and establishes comprehensive emergency evacuation plans and procedures for medical facilities.
- Conducts safety program evaluations and statistical analyses to identify trends and system weaknesses.
- Investigates accidents to determine root causes and recommends appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
- Develops and conducts safety training programs to increase risk awareness among medical personnel.
- Performs safety inspections of healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with occupational health standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
C-8:
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Incumbent of the position must be certified as a safety professional in accordance with paragraph 7 of the Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz (AsiG) PLUS the below listed minimum education and experience requirements. Incumbent of the position must be able to complete regular, mandatory training as directed.
E&T Level I and II: not applicable for this occupational series
E&T Level III A: The completed apprenticeship must have been in a commercial, business or administrative occupation, e.g., Industriekaufmann/frau, Kaufmann/frau im Gross- und Einzelhandel, oder in steuer- und wirtschaftsberatenden Berufen, Rechtsanwaltkanzleien, Banken oder Arztpraxen, or in a related technical trade, or similar occupation, PLUS 6 years of job related experience as defined below.
E&T Level III B and C: 6 years of job related experience as defined below.
E&T Level IV: 4 years of job related experience as defined below.
E&T Level V in any field: 4 years of job related experience as defined below.
Or graduation from a Fachhochschule or Universität as a Safety Engineer (Diplomsicherheitsingenieur) or graduation in another job related technical area PLUS 2 years of job related experience as defined below.
Job Related Experience: Experience gained in a professional, technical or supervisory position requiring knowledge, application, and enforcement of the principles and techniques of accident prevention, accident investigation, industrial engineering, fire prevention, and inspection of workplaces and activities. The experience must have provided knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, especially in facility safety, practices, procedures and standards applicable to a range of administrative duties.

Beschäftigungsbedingungen
This is a permanent full-time position (38.5 hours/ week).
* Relocation expenses are not authorized
* Regular temporary duty travel (TDY) required (25%).
* Experience with the use of common software and computer systems, carrying out routine office work (= Office Automation) is required
THIS CONCERNS ALL EXTERNAL APPLICANTS:
* Generally, you must have been a resident in Germany for at least 12 months. Non-US citizen family members and German citizens are exempt from this requirement.
* Your permanent residence must be within Germany.
* Police Good Conduct Certificate (Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis): On initial appointment, or re-appointment after a break in service, candidates who have been selected for a position must present a police good-conduct certificate prior to appointment to the position. The applicant must obtain the certificate from the local resident registration office. The cost for the certificate is not reimbursable. Non-U.S. citizen family members, except German citizens are exempt from this requirement.
* Upon appointment with the U.S. Forces it is required to present two valid picture identifications to get access to the computer systems. Recognized documents are only: Personal ID (Personalausweis), Personal Travel Identification (Reisepass) and the European Union (EU) Driver's License (plastic card format). We recommend ensuring at the time of application that at least two of these documents are available or requested.
* Foreign National Screening (Sicherheitsüberprüfung): In accordance with U.S. Army Europe Regulation 604-1, within three days after appointment, a background check will be initiated to determine suitability for continued employment with the U. S. Forces in Germany. If results are unacceptable, employment will be terminated during the probationary period, or any time thereafter, if the background checks reveal that the employee constitutes a security risk.
