Work environment
Join a diverse and supportive team where you can grow, thrive, and unlock your full potential. As a PhD candidate (f/m/d) in the field of AI-assisted electric machine development, you will be part of an exciting and challenging research environment. Take the opportunity to actively shape the future of e-mobility at Volkswagen and contribute directly to the development of cutting-edge drive technologies. We are looking forward to your application!
Possible tasks within this role
* Develop AI-based methods for the design of electric machines
* Investigate loss mechanisms under variable modulation and switching frequencies
* Consider the influence of pulse-width modulation inverters on electric machine losses as a key design factor
* Simulate and evaluate machine concepts using modern tools (e.g., FEM, MATLAB/Simulink)
* Build and measure prototypes to validate developed concepts
The final dissertation topic will be defined in collaboration with the supervising professor. A prerequisite for the collaboration is a confirmed supervision agreement and a clearly defined research topic from a professor at a university or research institution with the right to confer doctoral degrees.
Qualification requirements
* A good to excellent university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in electrical engineering or a related field, qualifying for PhD studies
* Knowledge in electric machine design and/or machine learning
* Experience with simulation software (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS, JMAG)
* A responsible and structured working style, along with above-average commitment
* Language proficiency in German and English at minimum level B2 (CEFR)
