KG Organization Gas Services Business Unit Central Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Student (Not Yet Graduated) Location: BLN ND 51Mode of Employment: Full-time / Fixed TermA Snapshot of Your Day We are seeking a motivated master’s student to conduct research on the aging-related properties of ceramic abradable coatings. The thesis will involve investigating the performance and durability of these coatings under various conditions, contributing to advancements in material science and engineering.
Abradable coatings are specialized materials used in various engineering applications, particularly in gas turbines and jet engines. The primary purpose of abradable coatings is to create a seal between rotating and stationary components, which helps to improve efficiency and reduce leakage in engines. How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Researching the aging-related properties of these coatings is essential to understand how they perform over time and under various environmental conditions, which can significantly impact their effectiveness and the overall performance of the machinery they protect
2. Investigate aging related methods to assess their long-term performance
3. Explore and establish a method for testing the abradability of the coatings, ensuring accurate and reliable results
What You Bring
4. A bachelor’s degree in a scientific field related to materials; preferably in ceramics or ceramic coatings (TBC)
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
6. Experience with materials characterization techniques is a plus
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
