Java Technical Lead

Role Overview
You’ll join as a Technical Lead, owning all technical and architectural decisions for the settlement & insurance domain, leading a product-led team building and evolving enterprise-grade systems at scale.
Key Responsibilities
* Own end-to-end technical and architectural decisions within your domain
* Design, evolve, and modernise backend and frontend systems
* Lead a product-led team with autonomy over backlog and technical direction
* Balance long-term architecture health with short-term delivery needs
* Collaborate closely with Product Owners and other Technical Leads
* Guide and challenge engineers through design discussions and reviews
* Take responsibility for decisions, including resolving disagreements when needed
Qualifications
* 6+ years professional software engineering experience
* Proven experience owning technical or architectural decisions
* Strong Java background (Spring / Spring Boot)
* Experience building and maintaining complex, business-critical systems
* Solid understanding of distributed systems and SQL databases
* Ability to lead technical discussions and make clear trade-offs
* Hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving skills
* Fluent English (spoken and written)
Nice-to-have
* Experience with React and modern frontend frameworks
* Kafka or event-driven architecture experience
* Cloud experience (AWS preferred) or cloud migration exposure
* Experience working with legacy systems and modernisation initiatives
* Background in B2B SaaS, insurance, fintech, mobility, or logistics domains
* German language skills
