Hauptaufgaben

Performs duties in the maintenance of inspection surveillance over ammunition operations in installations and activities. Ammunition is used in this job description includes a variety of intricate component parts, subassemblies, major assemblies and end items, e.g. grenades, mines, pyrotechnics, rockets, chemical filled ballistic ammunition items, bombs, mechanical, chemical and electrical fuses, small arms, propelling, charges, rocket motors, demolition items, bulk explosives, packing and packaging materials:
Advises operating officials in the planning of ammunition projects with regard to the safety of the planned operational methods, relative to type of ammunition, its condition and stability, inspection problems, operational problems, efficiency and economy. Advice furnished is based upon officials requirements and permissible limits, specifications, drawings, change orders, manufacturing waivers, standard inspection procedures, etc; data derived from various types of inspections, deter-minations of deterioration rate and degree of hazard and quality evaluation of ammunition through receipt, handling, transportation, maintenance and renovation, storage, shipment and use. Interprets and adapts technical manuals, drawings, specifications, and safety requirements in solving problems in surveillance and quality evaluation inspections, to accomplish objectives within limits of safety, efficiency and economy.
Renders decisions with regard to proper and safe methods for receipt, handling, storage, surveillance, normal maintenance, renovation, issue and demilitarization of various types of ammunition items, and to determine independently the adequacy and condition of magazines, igloos and other storage facilities. Recommends corrective methods and controls, necessary for the maintenance of approved standards of quality and safety. Determines compliance with established performance and safety standards and regulations; recommends work stoppage in hazardous situations and extends advice for temporary correction of hazardous conditions not covered by standards, and re-commends corrective action to supervisor. Discusses with foremen and operating official's changes in layouts, equipment and processes required by revisions in operating procedures, performance and safety standards and regulations.
Conducts periodic, special and prestorage inspections and evaluates safety and degree of serviceability of ammunition in storage and ammunition received from manufacturer, CONUS installations, other USAREUR installations, posts, camps and stations and other overseas commands. Recommends retention, maintenance, modification, renovation, or disposal as appropriate. Determines serviceability through knowledge of inherent characteristics, design, and composition of the ammunition items, such as determining quality, of artillery fuses by evaluation of exterior indications such as corrosion, oxidation, external deformities, etc., and conducting tests using such devices as precision gages, electronic and manual test equipment, chemical tests, etc. Assists DAC Quality Assurance Specialists (Ammo) in performing verification and acceptance inspections of ammunition processed in normal maintenance, renovation, modification, and demilitarization operations. Monitors operations for explosive and industrial safety. Prepares and signs reports of inspection findings. Recommends condition codes or changes of condition codes based upon results of inspections.
Schedules, plans, expedite, monitors, and coordinates ammunition and explosives items requiring cyclic surveillance inspections. Determine location(s) for selection and tagging of inspection samples. Ensure efficiencies of operation by performing a review of items within a storage location to ensure that all items requiring inspection are brought to the workshop. Prepare or assist in the preparation of inspection packets for material requiring inspection. Manage ammunition and explosives items in temporary storage at the workshop awaiting inspection or return to storage. Ensure that items in process or in temporary storage are compatible and review and assess Net Explosive Weight. Monitor inspection progress and completion.
Performs other related duties such as preparing plans for surveillance operations. Reviews SOP's prepared by others. Recommends approval or dis-approval of requests for waivers of quality or safety requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned.

C-06:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 3 years of experience as defined in B below.

Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.

E&T Level II: 1 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 3 years of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level III: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level IV: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level V: No additional experience required.

Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.


C-6A:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 4 years of experience as defined in B below.

Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.

E&T Level II: 1 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 4 years of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level III: 3 years of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level IV: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level V: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in B below.

Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.

Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.

Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled. The amount of the higher level experience must be in a reasonable relation to the required total number of years.


• Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.
• Office automation skills are required.


LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:

English Language Proficiency level C1 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.

Beschäftigungsbedingungen

This is a permanent full-time position (38.5 hrs./week).

Position may be filled at the C-06 or at the full performance level, C-6A. The incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher or full performance level in accordance with regulatory requirements, upon completion of required training, and recommendation of supervisor.

• If requirement exists, the incumbent of this position is obligated to perform TDY within and outside Germany, shift work, weekend and holiday work.
