Job Title: Data Protection Expert
Job Location: Düsseldorf, Germany
Main Responsibilities:
* Act as privacy and data protection advisory point of contact for appropriate business and functional stakeholders
* Support the day-to-day data privacy activities of the Data Protection Office and provide support in strategic efforts to ensure data privacy compliance
* Assist in handling inquiries and issues related to data privacy
* Advise on the fulfilling of data subject rights requests and handle escalations
* Support communications with supervisory authorities
* Support with data breaches in assessing, documenting and, where appropriate, notifying data breaches to data subjects and authorities
* Conduct research and analysis of European and international privacy landscape and be able to synthesize into insights for business and senior leadership
* Coordinate and collaborate with the data privacy coordinators on a regular basis
* Contribute to developing and updating policies and procedures for compliance
* Conduct internal inspections and support external audits
* Assist in developing and delivering data privacy training to employees
* Support in building and maintaining reporting dashboards and presentation materials to senior leadership
* Collaborate with internal groups such as Legal, IT Security, HR, Procurement, and Marketing to address inquiries, identify privacy gaps, propose solutions, and incorporate practical approaches into official procedures
Requirements:
* You have an educational background in Law, International Relations, IT or Communications
* You have at least 5 years of experience with data protection and privacy - have knowledge of GDPR and other data protection laws (e.g. ePrivacy Directive), and soft law sources (e.g. opinions and guidelines of European Data Protection Board, data protection authorities)
* You have strong report writing and communication skills
* You are tech-savvy
* You are collaborative and able to build strong stakeholder relationships at different levels
* You are effective at explaining complex issues and solutions in a clear and concise manner
* You have project management skills and a sense of ownership over your work
* You have very strong analytical skills, including the ability to assess risk and impact to individuals from a privacy and data protection perspective
* You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Other European language or Chinese skills would be advantage
