Your mission We're seeking a Director IT to lead our eight-person IT team and shape how technology enables our business. You'll drive the strategic direction of our internal IT operations whilst ensuring day-to-day services run smoothly. This role balances leadership, strategy, and hands-on involvement as we transition towards greater automation and modern IT practices. We are primarily a Linux and Google Workspace company with AWS as our primary cloud provider" You'll work closely with Information Security to develop and execute our security roadmap. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop a team of eight IT professionals Build a collaborative culture focused on service excellence and continuous improvement Define clear goals, responsibilities, and career development paths for team members Foster knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration Strategic Direction Develop and execute IT strategy aligned with business objectives Drive the transition from reactive support to proactive, automated service delivery Evaluate and implement modern IT approaches, tools, and frameworks Plan infrastructure evolution to support company growth and changing needs Service Delivery & Operations Ensure reliable delivery of end user support and backend services Oversee network, server, virtual, and cloud infrastructure for internal and customer-facing services Establish and monitor service level agreements and key performance indicators Balance operational stability with innovation and modernisation initiatives Security & Compliance Partner with Information Security and Compliance teams on strategy and roadmap development Oversee execution of security initiatives across IT operations Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations Promote security awareness and best practices throughout the organisation Stakeholder Management Serve as primary IT interface for senior leadership and business units Translate business requirements into technical solutions and roadmaps Communicate IT strategy, progress, and challenges clearly to non-technical audiences Manage vendor relationships and evaluate buying decisions Your profile Essential Experience 7 years in IT leadership roles, managing teams of 5 people Proven track record leading IT operations in fast-growing technology companies Deep understanding of modern IT infrastructure: cloud platforms, virtualisation, networking, and security Experience driving IT transformation programmes and automation initiatives Strong knowledge of Information Security frameworks and compliance requirements Track record of building high-performing teams and developing talent Technical Foundation Solid grasp of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid infrastructure Understanding of modern IT service management frameworks (ITIL, DevOps, SRE principles) Familiarity with automation tools, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD practices Knowledge of enterprise networking, security architecture, and identity management Leadership Qualities Strategic thinker who connects IT capabilities to business outcomes Decisive problem-solver comfortable navigating ambiguity Excellent communicator able to influence across all organizational levels Collaborative approach with strong stakeholder management skills Balance between empowering teams and maintaining accountability Bonus Points Experience in B2B SaaS Background with open source software and communities Certifications in IT service management, cloud platforms, or security Track record implementing zero-trust security models Experience scaling IT operations during rapid company growth Why us?
