As a Senior Data Scientist you’ll own the end‑to‑end analytics of our quantum‑diamond microscope - optics, electronics and signal processing - and lift its performance through rigorous data‑driven engineering.

Founded in 2022 as a spin-off of TU Munich, QD leverages quantum sensors to rapidly capture three-dimensional current maps within multi-layer chips. Our 30-strong team of physicists, engineers, and data scientists works side by side with major semiconductor manufacturers, helping them in chip debugging and accelerating their yield analysis. Let’s make the invisible visible!What will you do
* Analyse quantum‑sensing datasets, extract physical insight and turn it into actionable feedback for customers.
* Design, execute and interpret experiments that probe the optical, electronic and digital signal chains of our microscopes.
* Pinpoint bottlenecks and introduce improvements across hardware and software, championing data‑driven engineering practices.
* Mentor junior data scientists and raise the bar for analysis, documentation and reproducibility.
* Communicate findings in clear reports and concise visuals to both internal teams and external partners in the semiconductor ecosystem.
What is expected of you
* PhD in Physics, Optical/Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline; exceptional candidates with an MSc and 6+ years of hands-on R&D experience are also encouraged to apply.
* Proven track record of 4+ years in a data science and R&D setting outside of academia working with complex optical and/or electronic measurement equipment.
* Expertise in statistical data analysis, experimental design and signal processing with a passion for data‑driven decision making.
* Demonstrated experience developing advanced algorithms for signal processing - from concept through to deployment.
* Fluency in Python (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, matplotlib) and version control.
* Ability to translate raw data into clear stories for technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Collaborative mindset and willingness to work hands‑on in the lab.
* A background in quantum sensing technologies is a significant plus.
