Role Overview
As Head of Vendor Management – Operational Excellence, you will build and lead the function responsible for supplier performance, compliance, and automation. Your team ensures that every PO arrives on-time, in-full, correctly labelled, and via the right process, across hundreds of suppliers and thousands of deliveries per week.
This is not a traditional procurement or category role—your focus is operational: managing execution, compliance, and efficiency. You’ll lead the vendor ops roadmap, manage a team of vendor managers, and partner closely with Tech and Product to scale the digital supplier operating model (EDI, SSCC, portal, API). You will be measured by results at scale: OTIF, cost-to-serve, automation, and structural compliance.
You will be the driver behind our most critical programs—collaborating with product, ordering, operations, tech, and country leadership teams to shape the future of grocery delivery in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Leadership
· Own the operational vendor management strategy across all markets and fulfillment centers.
· Build, lead, and coach a team of Vendor Managers, embedding a culture of operational rigor, automation, and continuous improvement.
· Define and refine the vendor operating model—balancing automation, service-level enforcement, and cost efficiency.
2. Vendor Performance Management
· Drive performance KPIs across OTIF, EDI/SSCC compliance, lead-time accuracy, and delivery slot adherence.
· Develop and enforce a standard playbook for underperformance—from automated nudging to WBR/MBR reviews and contract escalations.
· Partner with Category Management to align supply model (MOQ, lead time, inbound cadence) with operational capacity and cost goals.
3. Automation & Tooling Leadership
· Lead the business side of the digital vendor portal roadmap, including EDI, ASN/SSCC, API integrations, and compliance alerts.
· Act as the main business stakeholder for all supplier-facing automation initiatives in partnership with Product and Tech.
· Monitor adoption and performance across the vendor base; champion a “hands-off-the-wheel” mindset.
4. Governance, Visibility & Insights
· Develop and maintain a robust vendor scorecard system, driving transparency, improvement, and business decisions.
· Own monthly vendor performance reviews at country and group level; surface systemic issues to leadership and influence investment decisions.
· Establish and scale OKRs/KPIs across the function and ensure accountability to them.
