Job Description
As a Freight Business Development Manager you will be at the forefront of our growth strategy, focusing on identifying new business opportunities and nurturing client relationship. The role will report into the EMEA Sales Director and you will be responsible for the following areas of responsibility across the Germany and into Central & Eastern Europe:
You will target account and sales revenue growth across Germany with the international freight forwarding and air freight courier markets, alongside the generating a wide range of revenue from new sales generation.
Strategic Development: Crafting and executing innovative business development strategies to penetrate new markets and expand our customer base. You will analyse competitive landscapes and identify trends to position our services effectively.
Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring our solutions meet their expectations. Regular check-ins and proactive communication will be key to fostering loyalty and satisfaction.
New Business Acquisition: Actively prospecting and pursuing new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and attending industry events. You will identify key decision-makers within target organizations and create tailored proposals to win their business.
Market Analysis: Conducting thorough market research to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and potential areas for growth. You will leverage this data to refine strategies and capitalize on opportunities ahead of the competition.
Sales Presentations and Negotiation: Preparing and delivering compelling presentations to prospective clients that clearly outline the value of our services. You will also negotiate contracts and agreements to secure profitable deals while maintaining strong client relationships.
Industry Networking: Representing the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to enhance our brand presence and identify new business leads. Building a robust professional network will be crucial to your success.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful Freight Business Development Manager will have an expansive background in air freight, general freight forwarding & logistics sales and will have the following skills & experience:
A passion for sales and business development, ideally with 5+ years' experience in air freight forwarding or logistics.
Past experience in freight forwarding, air freight & logistics sales ideally within a large organisation.
The ability to generate large scale monthly revenue from new business, alongside a proven track record in freight forwarding or air freight sales such as, within OBC, AOG, perishable, consol, project cargo, OOG, temperature controlled or simply general cargo.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships through face-to-face or virtual contact.
A proactive and results-oriented mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to work across Germany, with the desire to travel to a head office function, in Frankfurt once a month.
