Our mission for you
Your role at trawa: Build the accounting foundation of a hypergrowth energy-tech scale-up from the ground up. Your work will ensure audit readiness, enable our Series B fundraising, and create the financial infrastructure that powers our ambitious growth journey. You’ll own end-to-end accounting operations, transition trawa from external to in-house accounting, and design scalable, tech-enabled processes that evolve as we grow.
The challenge: This role isn’t about maintaining existing processes — it’s about creating them. You’ll establish robust, scalable accounting infrastructure while navigating complex energy market transactions, multi-stakeholder structures, and regulatory requirements. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring a combination of precision, pragmatism, and problem-solving.

What you’ll own:
Build audit-ready Accounting Infrastructure
* Own the monthly and annual financial close under HGB — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness
* Prepare financial statements independently and coordinate tax compliance with external advisors
* Navigate complex energy market transactions and deliver clean, timely audits
Drive strategic finance projects
* Build our in-house accounting function from scratch, transitioning key processes from external providers
* Contribute to major finance IT transformations (ERP, automation, and tool integrations)
* Combine hands-on execution and strategic thinking — build the foundation, then scale it efficiently
Bridge Accounting & Business Operations
* Serve as the primary contact for auditors, external bookkeeping, and tax advisors
* Translate complex accounting concepts into clear, actionable business insights for Founders and leadership
* Partner cross-functionally with Revenue Operations, Sales, and Tech teams to ensure data integrity and process alignment
Build & lead your team
* Lead your first team member within 3 months
* Grow into an Accounting Lead role within 12 months
* Define team structure, roles, and culture, fostering ownership, excellence, and continuous improvement
Who we are looking for
What we’re looking for
Must-Haves
* 4–7 years of accounting experience in the Big Four (Audit/Consulting) and/or high-growth scale-ups — you’ve mastered HGB financial statements, managed full-cycle closing, and coordinated annual audits
(Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK), CPA, ACCA, or similar certifications are a strong plus)
* Proficiency in DATEV REWE & DUO; experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Workday, or similar tools is an advantage
* Tech-forward mindset — you’re an Excel power user with curiosity for workflow automation and AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Langdock, n8n, Zapier)
* Business partner approach — you can translate accounting complexity into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
* Leadership-ready — excited to mentor your first team member and grow into a leadership position
* Business fluent in English; German proficiency (B2 or higher) or strong willingness to reach it quickly (we support you with language training)
Nice-to-Haves
* Experience in the energy, utilities, or regulated industries
* IFRS exposure or knowledge of international accounting standards
* Prior experience transitioning accounting functions from external to in-house
* Basic coding or automation skills (VBA, Python, or SQL)
