We are &why - a design and technology studio based in Munich and Berlin. We help brands become digital benchmarks by blending strategic insight, creative design, and high-quality technology. Our work ranges from sustainable product platforms and scalable web systems to interactive experiences and immersive digital tools that meaningfully connect audiences and business outcomes. Notable projects include the EcoLife sustainable products platform, the digital platform for KKL Luzern, and the global relaunch of the FreeNow platform.

Your role
You will take a leading role within one of our cross-functional project teams, collaborating directly with clients, designers, and strategists.
* Architect and implement sophisticated web applications using, React, and TypeScript
* Define and maintain scalable frontend architectures and technical standards
* Translate complex, design-driven concepts into performant, production-ready solutions
* Drive code quality, documentation standards, and engineering best practices
* Take ownership of technical decisions and proactively identify risks and improvements
* Contribute to the development of our internal platform and shared component systems
* Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and actively foster knowledge sharing within the team
* Act as a technical sparring partner for clients when needed
Your profile
* 5+ years of experience building production-grade web applications with React,, and TypeScript
* Strong architectural thinking and experience structuring scalable frontend systems
* Deep understanding of performance optimization, accessibility, and maintainability
* Proven ability to implement complex, highly interactive, design-driven interfaces
* Experience working in agency or consultancy environments with multiple parallel projects
* Confident communication skills and ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
* Structured, self-driven, and comfortable taking full ownership of features or systems
Nice to have:
* Experience with 3D / WebGL (e.g., )
* Experience designing or maintaining design systems
* Experience with CMS integrations and headless architectures
* Experience mentoring or leading small teams
